Some larger home extensions can fall under a prior notification application rather than a detailed planning application, depending on the overall size of the extension. If so, the proposed extension illustrated will be consulted with the neighbours for a period of 21 days. If an objection is received during the 21 days, the Local Planning Authority will assess the impact of the proposed extension on the amenity of the neighbours. The Local Planning Authority may then either allow the development to go ahead or refuse approval.
