A bedroom extension that works for you or your family

Whether you are expanding as a family or want relatives to move in, a bedroom extension will offer the chance to ensure individuals have their own private space. That's why we’ll help you review possibilities and look at design options to make the most of the space, so everyone can relax, sleep and enjoy their home comforts.

Have you thought about a bedroom extension?

Are you children growing up too quickly or thinking of moving a relative into your home, then a bedroom extension would be the most suitable option to ensure everyone has their own space. Our most common bedroom extensions are a single storey extension however if you have more room and budget, a two storey extension would be the most spacious, as you may be able to gain an extra bathroom or en-suite. You may already have thought about where the bedroom can go but unsure how the bedroom extension will work and what is required. This is perfectly normal, so contact us to arrange a consultation visit at your property where we will be happy to see whether our services can help.

Learn five simple steps before you start

We will visit you to talk about your bedroom extension

Our consultation visit is a friendly chat to discuss your thoughts and ideas about the bedroom extension in relation to the existing property. We will listen and take notes so we can clearly understand your requirements and discuss in detail the processes involved to gain the necessary permissions and answer any questions you may have. After every consultation, you will receive a fee letter that outlines our services which include the design stages involved, timescales and fees so you are clear from the outset what is required in order to achieve a bedroom extension.

Getting started with your bedroom extension design

In order to design the bedroom extension, we first need to gather measurements of the existing property in the form of a measured building survey. A measured building survey usually takes a couple of hours and will involve taking measurements of the existing house to enable us to produce drawings. Once the drawings are produced, we are able to produce feasibility sketch illustrations of how the bedroom extension can be best developed.

Working with you producing feasible design options

We will prepare some indicative proposals to establish how the bedroom extension could be best developed, so you can review the drawings and pass comment. Our drawings will include floor plans, elevations and site plan, so you can clearly understand the design proposed from discussing your requirements. If any changes are required to the proposal, we would be happy to oblige until you are satisfied with the final design. Once the design of the bedroom extension is finalised, we can then submit the scheme as a detailed planning application on your behalf to the council.

Submitting a planning application for your bedroom extension

Submitting a planning application to the council is a very complicated process but we will be glad to help. We will submit scaled drawings along with the correct paperwork and ordnance survey map so the planning application can be processed efficiently without delay. Once the planning application is paid for, it will be processed and the council will offer a date when a decision will likely be made. It is normal for the council to make a decision within eight weeks, so you can sit back and relax while we liaise with the council and update you of it's progress until a decision is made.
